No. 319 of 2025 C.Natarajan, ..Petitioner(s) Mr. P.N.Sreedhar, The Commissioner, Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, Uthamar Gandhi Salai, Nungambakkam, Chennai 600 034. ..Respondent Prayer: Contempt Petition filed under Section 11 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, seeking to pass an order of contempt against the respondent for violating the order of Honorable High Court on 30.04.2024 in W.P.No. 12468 of 2024 as discussed supra and also to punish him according to the procedure embodied under the law For Petitioner : Ms.V.S. Usha Rani For Respondent : Mr.K. Karthikeyan Govt. Advocate ORDER This Court, by its order dated 30.04.2024 in W.P. No.12468 of 2024, issued a direction to the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner and 1/3 Cont. P. No.319 of 2025 pass appropriate orders. Pursuant to the said directions, as seen from the status report filed by the respondent, the respondent has conducted inspection and submitted its report on 17.04.2025 and thereafter the Contempt Petition was closed. Subsequently, the petitioner has filed the Sub Application to reopen the contempt proceedings, by contending that the spirit of the order has not been fully complied with. 2. It is to be noted that contempt proceedings is not a remedial measure and the scope is limited. Further, it is crystal clear that this Court had not issued any positive directions in the writ petition except directing the respondents to consider and dispose of the petitioner’s representation. Since the respondent has already conducted inspection and pointed out defects, the direction issued by this Court stands complied with. 3. In view of the above, the Contempt Petition is closed. 13.03.2026 Index : Yes / No Speaking Order / Non-speaking order Neutral Citation Case : Yes / No vsi2 2/3 Cont. P. No.319 of 2025 M.
