..… SANJIV BERRY, J. (ORAL) By way of instant petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ of mandamus for direction to respondents to release the petitioner on parole.
2. Heard.
3. It is, inter alia, contended by learned counsel for the petitioner that after being convicted in case FIR No. 59 dated 22.05.2015 under Section 15 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Passiana, District Patiala, vide judgement dated 28.02.2024, by the learned Judge, Special Court, in case, i.e. NDPS No. 541-2016, the petitioner had moved an application on 19.12.2024 seeking parole but the same has not been decided till date.

Learned counsel for the petitioner further contends that for the purpose of the present petition, the petitioner will be satisfied if PREETI 2025.04.05 10:54 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
-2- 133-CRWP-3167-2025 appropriate directions are issued to respondent No. 3 to consider and dispose of the application dated 19.12.2024 vide dispatch No. 12208 moved to respondent No. 3 in accordance with the law in an expeditions manner.
5. Notice of motion.
6. On the asking of the Court, Mr. Rajinder Singh Bhatta, DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the State-respondents and submits that the aforesaid application shall be considered and disposed of in an expeditious manner according to law.

After considering the rival contentions and considering the limited request made by learned counsel for the petitioner and without commenting on the merits of the case, the petition is disposed of with the direction to respondent No.3, the Jail Superintendent, Central Jail, Patiala, to consider and dispose of the application dated 19.12.2024 in accordance with law in an expeditious manner preferably within two weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
6. The decision so taken be intimated to the petitioner.
