31 10-09-2025 AKG Ct. 15 WPA 20572 of 2025 Shri. Nitai Kumar Barik Vs. The State of West Bengal & Ors. Mr. Bhaskar Nandi …for the Petitioner Mr. Pantu Deb Roy, Mr. Pannalal Bandopadhyay …for the State The petitioner submitted an online application in the prescribed form for an inter-State stage carriage permit for the route from Kolkata Central Bus Terminus (KCBT) at Santragachi to Gopalpur via Jamsola, Baripada, Balasore, Bhubaneswar, and Berhampur. The petitioner contends that a vacancy has arisen due to the death of one of the permit holders on the said route, namely Smt. Tilottamma Mishra. He submits that the petitioner’s application ought to be considered against the vacancy created by the demise of Smt. Tilottamma Mishra. I am of the view that the concerned authority should have considered the petitioner’s application within a reasonable and time-bound period. Accordingly, I dispose of this writ petition with a direction to the Transport Authority, West Bengal, to consider the petitioner’s application within eight (8) weeks from the date of communication of this order. It is clarified that, in considering the petitioner’s 2 application, the authority shall take into account the vacancy on the said route, if any, and the decision shall be communicated to the petitioner forthwith. WPA 20572 of 2025 is accordingly disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
