Also heard Mr. Y S Mannan, Learned Counsel appearing for the Respondent Nos. 3 to 5. The Petitioner had instituted the present Writ Petition raising a grievance, with regard to the bar imposed for his appointment as the Head of the Department (H.o.D), Department of Education, Sivasagar Girls’ College, Assam. The Petitioner had also raised a grievance, with regard to his removal from the Advisory position in the said College. While the present matter was being considered by this Court, the Governing Body of the College, in its meeting held on 20.05.2026, had decided to lift the ban imposed upon the Petitioner, from taking Page No.# 3/4 any Advisory role, in the affairs of the College. Thereafter, further deliberations were held in the matter and on 22.07.2026, when the matter was taken up, Mr. Y S Mannan, Learned Counsel appearing for the Respondent Nos. 3 to 5, had submitted that the clarifications submitted in the matter by the Petitioner was accepted by the Governing Body of the College and it was resolved to withdraw the ban imposed upon the Petitioner for being appointed in an Advisory role in the College affairs. He had further submitted that the Governing Body had also resolved that the Petitioner would now be given the responsibility of the Head of Department (H.o.D) of the Department of Education in the said College. This Court noticing that said position had required the Principal of the College to issue appropriate orders, appointing the Petitioner as the Head of Department (H.o.D) of the Department of Education of the said College, Mr. Y S Mannan, Learned Counsel appearing for the Respondent Nos. 3 to 5, today, has placed on record a communication dated 20.08.2026, issued by the Principal, Sivasagar Girls’ College, Sivasagar, Assam, to the Petitioner, wherein, the Petitioner has been informed of his appointment as the Head of Department (H.o.D) of the Department of Education of the said College for 3 (three) years, with immediate effect. Accordingly, the Petitioner has now been Page No.# 4/4 reinstated in his Advisory position. Mr. S Sharma, Learned Counsel for the Petitioner, in view of the said developments taking place in the matter, has submitted that the grievance of the Petitioner has been redressed and no live issue arises for adjudication in the present Writ Petition. The said submission of the Learned Counsel for the Petitioner is not disputed by the Learned Counsel for the Respondents. Accordingly, in view of the above submissions of the Learned Counsel for the Petitioner, the present Writ Petition stands closed, in view of the stipulations contained in the communication dated 20.08.2026.
