Respondents under office order dated 23.04.2024 had declined to confer the benefit of decision rendered in Roop Lal versus State of H.P and others2 upon the petitioner on the ground of pendency of The 1 Whether reporters of print and electronic media may be allowed to see the order? Yes. 2 LPA No.196/2022, decided on 11.10.2023. 2 State of Himachal Pradesh & others versus Roop Lal3 preferred by the State against the said decision. Hence, the petition. It is not in dispute that Roop Lal3 was dismissed by Hon’ble Apex Court on 18.03.2025 thereby giving finality to Roop Lal.2 4. In view of above, impugned order dated 23.04.2024 (Annexure P-3) is quashed and set-aside. Respondents are directed to consider the case of the petitioner afresh in accordance with law and in light of decision rendered in Roop Lal.2 This exercise be undertaken within six weeks. Copy of order so passed be communicated to the petitioner. The writ petition stands disposed of in the above terms, so also the pending miscellaneous application(s), if any.
