Neutral Citation No. (2025:JHHC:34788) IN THE HIGH COURT OF JHARKHAND AT RANCHI B.A. No. 10621 of 2025 Virat Singh, aged about 28 years, son of Anandi Prasad @ Anandi Saw, R/o Mahalla Kalyanpur, P.O. & P.S.- Biharsarif, Dist.- Nalanda, Bihar. … Petitioner - Versus - The State of Jharkhand … Opp. Party ------ CORAM: - HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE AMBUJ NATH ----- For the Petitioner : Ms. Saba Ali, Advocate For the State : Mr. Pankaj Kumar, P.P. --- 02/21.11.2025 Heard the parties. The petitioner has been made an accused in connection with Jhinkpani P.S. Case No. 18/2024, corresponding to N.D.P.S. Case No.15 of 2024 for the offences registered under Sections 20(b) (ii) (C) of the NDPS Act, pending in the Court of learned Sessions Judge, West Singhbum, Chaibasa. Bail Application of the petitioner was earlier rejected by this Court vide B.A. No.9731 of 2024 by order dated 25.11.2024. On 09.06.2024, Jhinkpani police intercepted a car bearing registration no. BR- 27-D1111 from a place near Tutugutu bridge. On search 96.91 kgs of cannabis were recovered from the said vehicle. The petitioner who was sitting in the said vehicle was apprehended at the place of occurrence. Quantum of seized cannabis comes within the purview of commercial quantity. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that petitioner is in custody for about one and half years. Considering the nature of allegation, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail. Accordingly, his prayer for bail stands rejected. Learned trial court shall expedite the trial and preferably conclude the same within six months from the next date fixed for recording of evidence.
