By way of the present petition, the petitioner has prayed for the following reliefs: “10.1 That the Hon’ble Court may kindly be pleased to direct the respondent authorities to consider the petitioner’s application for the re- issuance of passport, in the interest of justice. 2 10.2 That any other relief which this Hon’ble Court deems fit and proper may also be granted in favour of the petitioner safeguarding their interest.” 2. Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is holder of Passport No. L3280925 which was valid from 12.08.2013 to 11.08.2023 has approached this Hon’ble Court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking redress against the arbitrary and unjustified inaction of the respondent authorities. The petitioner had applied for reissuance of passport on 09.07.2024 but the respondent authorities have refused to process it, citing the pendency of two criminal cases registered as Crime No. 127/2024 and Crime No. 140/2024 at Police Station Gurur. Relying on Gazette Notification GSR 570(E) dated 25.08.1993 the respondents have demanded either a copy of the concerned Court’s order or a No Objection Certificate from the police authorities in relation to the said cases. 3. Learned Counsel for Union of India submits that the petitioner has not provided the status report of criminal cases pending against him. 4. I have heard learned counsel for the respective parties at length and perused the record with utmost circumspection. 5. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, submissions of the counsels, the petitioner is directed to provide suitable documents and status report of the criminal cases registered as Crime No. 127/2024 and Crime No. 140/2024 at Police Station Gurur before the respondent no. 2. Thereafter, respondent no. 2 shall decide the matter of renewal of 3 passport of the petitioner expeditiously as soon as possible in accordance with law, rules, regulations. 6.
