Alleging inaction on the part of respondents, this captioned writ petition is filed seeking mandamus to issue certified copies of the public documents sought under the application. 2. The Learned counsel for petitioner submits that the petitioner has sought access to old public documents, which are crucial for the exercise of their legal rights. - 3 - NC: 2025:KHC:5579 WP No. 34434 of 2024 Recognizing the fundamental right of every citizen to access public records, this Court hopes that necessary steps will be undertaken to trace, retrieve, and provide the requested documents. The respondent authorities are obligated in upholding transparency and accountability in governance, ensuring that no undue delay is caused in furnishing the required documents. In furtherance of this commitment, the Learned HCGP assures this Hon’ble Court that the certified copies of the requested documents will be provided to the petitioner within a period of four weeks. He would ensure that within a period of four weeks, the certified copies of the documents will be furnished to the petitioner. 3. Recording his assurance, this Court proceeds to pass the following; ORDER (i) The writ petition is allowed.
