PUBLIC PROSECUTOR The Court made the following ORDER: Today, when the matter came up for hearing, there is no representation on behalf of the petitioner. Even on the earlier occasion i.e., on 03.01.2025 also, learned counsel for the petitioner was absent and there was no representation on his 2 behalf. Hence, this Court is proceeding to dispose of the matter based on the material available on record. 2. This Criminal Petition, under Sections 480 and 483 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, has been filed by the petitioner/A1, seeking regular bail, in Crime No.29 of 2023 of Annavaram Police Station, Alluri Sitharama Raju district. 3. A case has been registered against the petitioner herein and others for the offences punishable under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C), 25 read with 8(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (for short ‘the NDPS Act’). 4. Case of the prosecution, in brief, is that, on 26.09.2023, between 02.30 hours to 05.30 hours, the Sub-Inspector of Police, Annavaram Police Station, along with his staff and mediators, while conducting vehicle checking near Nimmapadu road turning point of Chinthapalli Mandal, found the accused in possession and illegal transportation of 1,401.600 Kgs of Ganja in Bolero pickup Van bearing registration No.AP 05 TC 6883 and a motor cycle. On seeing the police party, two persons travelling on the motor cycle escaped from the spot. The contraband 3 along with the vehicle and other material was seized under cover of a mediators report and a case has been registered against the accused. 5. Heard learned Assistant Public Prosecutor appearing on behalf of the respondent/State and perused the record. 6. The quantity of contraband allegedly seized from the possession of the accused is 1,401.600 Kgs of Ganja, which is a huge commercial quantity. Learned Assistant Public Prosecutor submits that the investigation is not yet completed and that the petitioner herein/A1 is involved in six (6) other cases of this nature. In view of the aforesaid facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner herein. 7.
