1. Present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondent No.2 to protect the life and liberty of petitioners at the hands of respondent No.4.

Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that the petitioners are living in live-in relationship against the wishes of respondent No.4 and they claim themselves to be major and seek protection to their life and liberty. They apprehend danger from respondent No.4. 4. Mr. Subhash Godara, Addl. A.G., Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3-State and Mr. Rajesh Kapila, Advocate appears on behalf of respondent No.4 and files his Vakalatnama in the Court today, which is taken on record. Learned counsel for the petitioners is directed to supply a copy of complete paper book to learned State counsel during course of the day.

Without commenting anything on the relationship between the petitioners and entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of this petition with direction to respondent No.2 to decide representation of the petitioners (Annexure P-4) within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this
order and grant them protection, if there is any threat to their life and liberty. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any committed by them.
