Sl. No.13 28.08.2025 Suman Ct. 15 WPA 19157 of 2025 Sridam Jana Vs. The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) and Ors. Mr. Sukumar Ghosh Ms. Moumita Ghosh …for the petitioner Mr. Sumit Roy …for WBSEDCL An application for adjournment has been filed on behalf of West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL). However, in light of the order I propose to pass in this writ petition, it may not be necessary to hear WBSEDCL further. Previously, the writ petitioner had filed WPA 21218 of 2024 (Sridam Jana Vs. The WBSEDCL & Ors.) seeking the shifting of two electricity poles. The petitioner submitted before this Court that the scope of the shifting had not been clearly ascertained and the cost of the proposed shifting had not been assessed. A Coordinate Bench of this Court, on November 12, 2024, disposed of the said writ petition by directing WBSEDCL to take into consideration the financial status of the petitioner while assessing the feasibility of shifting the two electricity poles. The authorities were directed to take the necessary steps within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of communication of that order. In the present writ petition, the petitioner submits that WBSEDCL has issued a quotation amounting to Rs. 69,440/- for the shifting of the two electricity poles. The petitioner further states that due to his poor financial condition, he made a representation to the Chief Engineer, WBSEDCL, requesting a reduction of the charges. It is submitted that this representation has not yet been considered. In view of the foregoing, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the Chief Engineer, WBSEDCL, to consider the petitioner’s representation dated April 16, 2025, within one month from the date of communication of this order. After hearing the writ petitioner, WBSEDCL shall pass an appropriate order, granting the petitioner a further period of two months to pay the requisite charges for the shifting of the two electricity poles. Accordingly, WPA 19157 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the learned advocates for the parties on usual undertakings.
