When the matter came up for hearing, Mr.M.Palanivel, the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner, would submit that the very purpose of seeking de-freezing is for the renewal of the FDRs (Fixed Deposit Receipts), which are due for renewal. 3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor would submit that if the purpose is only for renewal, de-freezing need not be ordered. The Investigating Officer can be directed to request the bank for renewal of the fixed desposits. 4. In view of the peculiar nature of the facts and circumstances of this case, these miscellaneous petitions are ordered with the following directions:- (i) The banks concerned, in which the fixed deposit receipts are maintained, shall renew the fixed deposits upon a request made by the Investigating Officer.
