1. Petitioner has preferred this criminal writ petition(parole) seeking first regular parole of 20 days.
2. It is contended by counsel for the petitioner that initially, first regular parole application was filed before the authorities and the same was dismissed on the ground that correct address of the petitioner is not ascertainable. It is also contended that thereafter,
(2 of 2) [CRLW-2197/2024] as per directions of the Court, vide order dated 09.04.2024, petitioner applied afresh and submitted his correct address to the jail authorities. It is further contended that application was moved with the authorities but the same has been kept pending as is evident from order dated 04.11.2024.
3. Learned GA-cum-AAG has opposed the criminal writ petition.
4. We have considered the contentions.
5. Since, petitioner has remained in custody for a period of 14 years and 3 months; that his application for parole has been kept pending with the authorities, we deem it proper to dispose of the criminal writ petition(parole) with a direction to the authorities to decide the application within a period of four weeks from the date of passing of this order.
6. Criminal Writ Petition(Parole) stands disposed.
