Mr. Swapan Kumar Datta, learned Government Pleader and Senior Advocate files a report dated December 12, 2025 of the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal, let it be kept with the record. In the said report, it has been disclosed that the Scheduled Tribe Certificates issued by Sub-Divisional Officer, Barrackpore (hereinafter referred to as the ‘S.D.O’ in short) to the five candidates of NEET (UG), 2025 namely (1) Bishakha Shaw, (2) Ankit Kumar, (3) Anjali Shaw, (4) Kabay Kumnar Prasad and (5) Sagun Gupta prima facie, have been found to be dubious and two other candidates from outside West Bengal namely (1) Anjali Kumari from Bihar and (2) Shahid Khan from Jammu & Kashmir are not entitled to avail the benefit of their Scheduled Tribe Certificates in West Bengal. The aforesaid five candidates, on the basis of their said caste certificates, have taken admission in Government Medical Colleges. 2 Mr. Nag, learned advocate for the West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee, the respondent no. 9 herein, submits that Ms. Anjali Kumari did not avail the benefit of her caste certificate, she has taken admission in a private Medical College in an unreserved seat and Mr. Shahid Khan did not take the admission at all. The prayer of the petitioners, if allowed, the abovementioned five candidates of NEET (UG) 2025 would certainly be affected, therefore they are necessary parties to the present proceeding. The presence of the S.D.O. Barrackpore is also necessary for the proper adjudication of the matter as all the caste certificates to the abovementioned five candidates strangely were issued from the said Office, consequently, leave is granted to the petitioners to add the aforesaid five candidates and S.D.O. Barrackpore as party respondents to the present writ petition. To facilitate the said addition, the respondent no. 9 shall provide the addresses of the aforementioned five candidates to the learned advocate for the petitioner. Notice alongwith a copy of the writ petition and a copy of this order be given to all the added respondents. List the matter on December 19, 2025.
