It is submitted that, in a year or two, a permanent building for Sub-Registrar Office will be constructed in Thaiyur Panchayat and the community halls will be vacated. 4. Shri Prabakar also submitted two typed-sets in which photographs are given, which indicate that there are alternative community halls within a distance of two kilometres from the existing community halls. Therefore, in our view, the residents of the area are not severely inconvenienced. 5. Moreover, in both petitions, it is alleged that the community halls are dilapidated, not in use for public access, and petitioners and villagers on several occasions have approached respondents to renovate the community __________ https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

If that was the case, in our view, the community halls in the current state should not be used by the public for social gatherings, because that would put life and limb at risk. Accepting Shri Prabakar's statement that the new Sub-Registrar Office would be constructed within a year or two as an undertaking to the court, these petitions are dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs. (K.R.SHRIRAM, CJ.) (SUNDER MOHAN, J.)
