Heard the parties.
The petitioner has been made accused in connection with Ramgarh P.S. Case No. 178 of 2024 for the offences registered under sections 385, 387, 120B and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and cognizance has been taken under sections 385, 387, 120B, 504, 506/34 of the Indian Penal Code, pending in the court of learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ramgarh. Petitioner is alleged to have demanded rangdari from G.S. Malhotra Engineers & Contractors and threatened the firm not to report the matter to the police. They also got the work stopped. Later on, being suspicious, the informant, who is the Officer In-charge, Ramgarh police station inquired into the matter and instituted this F.I.R. It appears that the petitioner is accused in as many as 24 cases of similar nature. Report regarding the stage of trial earlier called for, has been received. It appears that out of 8 charge sheeted witnesses, 4 witnesses have been examined and trial is likely to be concluded within three months. Considering the nature of allegation and the fact that the trial is at the fag end of its conclusion, I am not inclined to release the petitioner, on bail. Accordingly, his prayer for bail stands rejected at this stage. The learned trial court shall expedite the trial.
