IN THE HIGH COURT OF JHARKHAND AT RANCHI
B.A. No. 423 of 2025
Md. Meraj Rain @ Raja, aged about 27 years, son of Amin Rain, resident of Jhajha Godam, P.O. and P.S.- Hussainabad, District- Palamau.
… Petitioner
- Versus - The State of Jharkhand
… Opp. Party
------ CORAM: - HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE AMBUJ NATH
----- For the Petitioner : Mr. A. K. Chaturvedy, Advocate For the State
: Mr. V. S. Sahay, A.P.P.
--- 04/25.03.2025
Heard the parties.
The petitioner has been made accused in connection with Hussainabad P.S. Case No. 177 of 2024, for the offences registered under Sections 80 and 3(5) of the B.N.S., pending in the Court of learned Sub- Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Palamau.
Petitioner happens to be the husband of the deceased Rukhsana Praveen, who died because of asphyxia due to hanging within seven years of her marriage in her matrimonial home. It is alleged that the deceased was tortured by the accused person to enforce the demand of dowry.
Attention has been drawn towards the statement of two witnesses recorded at paragraph-50 and 51 of the case diary, in which these witnesses have stated that apart from this petitioner, the other accused persons were not involved in abetting the suicide of the deceased.
Considering the nature of allegation, I am not inclined to release the petitioner, on bail. Accordingly, his prayer for bail stands rejected.
