Learned counsel for the petitioner claims that petitioner's father met an accidental death due to electrocution. The death of the petitioner's father has occurred on 19.04.2024. A first information report has been lodged and various other documents are annexed to show that the death is due to electrocution. It is submitted that in terms of the applicable Government Order the petitioner is entitled to be adequately compensated but such claim is not being considered. Shri Sushil Kumar Pandey, learned counsel appearing for the Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Limited has place before the Court a communication dated 25.09.2024, according to which the claim has already been forwarded to the Deputy Director, Electricity Safety but the matter is pending at his level. In matters of the present kind where death of a person has occurred due to electrocution, the authorities are expected to show more sensitivity and process claim of compensation, expeditiously. We do not approve of the action of the respondents in keeping such matters pending for almost a year. In that view of the matter, we dispose of this writ petition with a direction upon the second-respondent to ensure that the petitioner's claim for payment of compensation in terms of the applicable scheme is processed and the amount found payable is released to the person entitled to receive it, within a period of six weeks, from the date of a presentation of a copy of this order before the concerned respondent.
