GP FOR HOME 3 THE HONOURABLE DR JUSTICE VENKATA JYOTHIRMAI PRATAPA WRIT PETITION NO: 23111 of 2025 ORDER: This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India with the following prayer for: “…pleased to issue a writ, order or direction more particularly one in the nature of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the Respondents specifically Respondent No.3 and Respondent No. 4 and their police personnel to not to interfere with the religious festivities and other religious ceremonies organized by the petitioner herein at Lanka Grounds, Old Gajuwaka, Ward No 70, Zone-VI, Visakhapatnam-26 and pass.…” 2. Heard Sri Umesh Chandra P.V.G, learned counsel for the petitioner and Sri V.Farooq, learned Assistant Government Pleader for Home for the respondents. 3. Learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner has been organizing festivities on the eve of the Lord Ganesh Festival (Vinayakachaviti) annually for a continuous period of 21 days since 2009. It is further submitted that the petitioner has obtained all requisite permissions, including the necessary permission from the police authorities, for conducting the event. Despite this, the respondent-police have been interfering with the religious affairs and ceremonies held at the premises where the idol of Lord Ganesha is installed. 4. Learned Assistant Government Pleader for Home would submit that the Court may pass appropriate Orders. 4 5. Considering the submissions, the Writ Petition is disposed of. However, the Commissioner of Police, Visakhapatnam is directed to take appropriate steps to attend the cause and the points raised by the petitioner regarding the alleged demands of the police for the conduction of Ganesh Utsav. There shall be no order as to costs.
