SL. No Date Office Notes, reports, orders or proceedings or directions and Registrar’s order with Signatures WPCRL 138/2025 Hon’ble Manoj Kumar Tiwari, J. Hon’ble Ashish Naithani, J. Mr. Dinesh Chauhan, Advocate, for the petitioner. Mr. J.S. Virk, Deputy Advocate General, assisted by Mr. Rakesh Kumar Joshi, Brief Holder for the State. (2) Petitioner has approached this Court seeking police protection, as according to petitioner, he is receiving threats from respondent no. 5 to 8. (3) Learned Counsel for the petitioner referred to an order dated 11.11.2021, passed by a coordinate Bench of this Court in Writ Petition (Criminal) No. 1959 of 2021, whereby SSP, Dehradun was directed to provide protection to the petitioner. The said writ petition, however, was disposed of vide the order dated 5.4.2022 with a direction to SSP, Dehradun to take a decision as to whether protection is necessary to be continued or not, keeping in view the threat perception to the petitioner. (4) Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that protection granted to the petitioner, pursuant to interim order dated 11.11.2021, was withdrawn. He submits that there is grave threat to petitioner’s life and liberty, as he is living all alone in Dehradun and his son is settled in USA, therefore police authorities be directed to provide protection to him. (5) Learned State Counsel fairly submits that if petitioner has any real threat to his life and liberty, then he can approach the SSP, Dehradun by making a formal request for protection. (6) Accordingly, writ petition is disposed of by permitting the petitioner to make an application to SSP, Dehradun for providing police protection to him. If petitioner makes such an application within one week from today, then police authorities shall ensure that no harm is caused to life and liberty of the petitioner, till decision is taken on his application, by any person including respondent no. 5 to 8. However, benefit of this order shall not be available to him if he fails to make the application within the stipulated time. (7) Let certified copy of this order be supplied to learned Counsel, today itself, on payment of prescribed charges. (Ashish Naithani, J.) (Manoj Kumar Tiwari, J.) 28.2.2025 Pr
