CORAM :THE CHIEF JUSTICE DHIRAJ SINGH THAKUR SRI JUSTICE RAVI CHEEMALAPATI DATE : 26th March 2025 PC ; The issue that was highlighted in the present Public Interest Litigation is the action of the respondents in allotting Ac.0.033 cents of land in the premises of the Government Hospital at Nandigama for shifting and reinstallation of the statues, which were earlier installed at Gandhi Center, Nandigama.
2. The petitioner had alleged that the action of the official respondents was not permissible in terms of the directions issued by the Apex Court in S.L.P (C).No.8519 of 2006 as also the directions dated 02.08.2023 issued in W.P(PIL).No.27 of 2022 envisaging that re-allocation or installation of statues
V 2 at premises such as Government General Hospital, which is a public utility space, could not be permissible in terms of the directions of the Apex Court.
3.
Learned counsel for the respondent State has drawn our attention to an
order dated 10.10.2023 issued by the Collector and District Magistrate, N.T.R. District, Vijayawada whereby, the earlier allotment of land measuring Ac.0.033 cents has been cancelled with a further direction not to erect any statue in the said land.
