73-74 IN THE HIGH COURT OF MANIPUR AT IMPHAL
WP(C) No.942 of 2025 with MC (WP(C)) No.872 of 2025
Dr.G.Poufullung Kabui & 3 Ors … Petitioners -Versus-
State of Manipur & 3 Ors … Respondents
BEFORE HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE A.GUNESHWAR SHARMA 15.6.2026
Present Mr.N.Ibotombi, learned senior counsel assisted by Ms.Y.Jinita, learned counsel for the petitioners and Mr.Th.Sukumar, learned Government Advocate for the State respondents.
In the present petition, four petitioners pray for admission in PG Course in the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in terms of JNIMS Scheme of 2022.
On 25.5.2026 this Court disposed of an application being MC (WP(C)) No.377 of 2026 treating the provisional admission of petitioner Nos.1, 2 and 4 in PG Course as regular admission and petitioner No.3 Dr.Khaidem Tonny Singh was permitted to withdraw from the writ petition with liberty to pursue his remedy before appropriate forum.
Today, learned senior counsel for the petitioners submits that in view of order dated 25.5.2026 passed in MC (WP(C)) No.377 of 2026 cause of writ petition does not survive and the same may be closed in terms of order dated 25.5.2026. Mr.Th.Sukumar, learned
Government Advocate also submits that this Court may pass appropriate order in the facts and circumstance of the matter.
This Court has perused the materials on record. The main prayer in WP(C) No.942 of 2025 is for admission of four petitioners in PG course in JNIMS in terms of JNIMS Scheme of 2022. As reflected in order dated 25.5.2026, provisional admission of three out of four petitioners, i.e. petitioner Nos.1, 2 and 4 was treated as regular admission and petitioner No.3 was permitted to withdraw from the writ petition with liberty to pursue his remedy in appropriate forum.
In the circumstance, cause of writ petition does not survive as three petitioners got regular admission in PG Course and one writ petitioner withdrew from writ petition to pursue his remedy elsewhere. Accordingly, the WP(C) No.942 of 2025 is closed as infructuous and MC (WP(C)) No.872 of 2025 is also disposed of.
Interim order, if any, merges with final order.
