This is a petition for initiation of contempt proceedings against the respondents for their willful disobedience and non-compliance of order dated 17.03.2023 passed by this Court in OWP No. 682/2018 connected with two other petitions, whereby this Court issued a direction to the respondents to initiate steps for acquiring the land under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 within a period of eight weeks. The Deputy Commissioner was also directed to pay rent for use and occupation of the land of the petitioners from the date, the respondents have taken possession of the same. 2. In compliance of the judgment (supra), the respondents have filed their compliance report in which it is clearly stated that steps for acquiring the land under the Act of 2013 have been initiated and Notification under Section 11 (1) has been issued. It is further Sr. No. 07 2 CCP (D) No. 18/2024 submitted that the Deputy Commissioner has already paid the rent for use and occupation of the land of the petitioners. 3. As the judgment passed by this Court stands complied with, therefore, there is no point in keeping the contempt proceedings pending in this Court. As such, the proceedings in the contempt petition are closed. Respondents shall take immediate steps to take the acquisition proceedings within a time frame laid down in the Act of 2013.
