Advocate for Respondents CORAM :THE CHIEF JUSTICE DHIRAJ SINGH THAKUR SRI JUSTICE RAVI CHEEMALAPATI DATE : 25th June 2025 PC : The issue highlighted by the petitioner in the present Public Interest Litigation was the inconvenience caused to the public on account of vacancy of the post of Presiding Officer in Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Authority at Visakhapatnam and Tirupati Regions. Smt S. Pranathi, learned Special Government Pleader, has stated that the vacancy at Visakhapatnam was filled up on 06.11.2024 whereas in Tirupati, it was filled up on 20.06.2025 and that the vacancy insofar as Vijayawada is concerned, it would be filled up in due course. 2. We see from the record that the tenure of the Presiding Officer insofar 3. as Visakhapatnam is concerned is going to end on 14.08.2025 and therefore 2 I , \ similar situation may arise giving rise to fresh petitions which ought to be avoided in case steps are taken in advance by the respondents to ensure that there is no period during which there is vaccum in filling up the said position. We, accordingly, close this petition with a direction to the respondents to initiate immediate action for filling up the post of Presiding Officer of Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Authority at Vijayawada as also ensure that steps are taken in advance to ensure that the post does not remain vacant insofar as Visakhapatnam is concerned after the present 4. incumbent demits office on 14.08.2025.
