Neutral Citation No. - 2025:AHC:36120-DB Court No. - 29 Case :- WRIT - C No. - 7407 of 2025 Petitioner :- Shalu Kashyap Respondent :- Unique Identification Authority Of India Through Its Chief Executive Officer And Another Counsel for Petitioner :- Vineet Kumar Dubey Counsel for Respondent :- A.S.G.I.,Manu Vardhana Hon'ble Ashwani Kumar Mishra,J. Hon'ble Donadi Ramesh,J. Petitioner was issued Aadhaar Card in the name of Shalu. He made a request for correction of his name as Shalu Kashyap. The application for correction in the name was considered but inadvertently his name has been changed in the Aadhaar Card as Shanu Kashyap instead of Shalu Kashyap. It is submitted that authorities now state that correction would be permissible only once.
Learned counsel for the respondents states that grievance of the petitioner would be got examined by the second respondent. Ordinarily there may be limitations for the person to apply for correction of the name and a restriction could be imposed on the number of occasions when such application can be moved but where the error is on account of recording of name by the department itself, the objection that second application cannot be made is not liable to be countenanced. Petitioner wanted addition of his title as Kashyap in it. In doing so, his name itself has been changed. In such circumstances, we direct the second respondent to consider the petitioner's application for correction in his name, primarily as we find that the error in recording of the name on the previous occasion was due to an error attributed to the department itself. A fresh decision would be taken, keeping in view the above observations, by passing a reasoned order, within a period of six weeks from the date of presentation of a certified copy of this order. With the above observations/directions, this writ petition stands disposed of.
