DOSHI Date : 25/08/2025 ORAL ORDER Learned advocate for the petitioner, under instructions, seeks permission to withdraw the present petition with a further prayer that the name of the petitioner be struck off from the record of this petition as well as from the police record, so as to protect her identity, as she is neither the victim nor otherwise connected with the investigation. Permission, as prayed for, is granted. The petition accordingly stands disposed of as withdrawn. Interim relief, if any, shall stand vacated forthwith. It is submitted that the petitioner has no nexus with the alleged offence, either as complainant or as victim, save and except being shown as Witness No.12 in the chargesheet. In order to safeguard her identity, the Registry is directed to efface the name of the petitioner from all Court records and substitute the same with the initials “ABC”. Likewise, the Investigating Agency is directed to expunge her name from all police records and reflect the same by R/SCR.A/3363/2018 ORDER DATED: 25/08/2025 substituting “ABC”. The learned Trial Court is also directed to strike off the name of the petitioner from the chargesheet and replace it with “ABC”. At this stage, learned APP has placed on record a police report contending that, as per the police records, the petitioner is treated as a victim of the alleged offence. Be that as it may, this Court is of the considered view that, in order to preserve and protect the identity of the petitioner, the aforesaid protective directions shall continue to operate, irrespective of the police stand.
