GC JUSTICE ANOOP KUMAR DHAND Order 20/05/2025 1. By way of filing this writ petition, a direction has been sought against the respondents for changing the name of the father of the petitioner in the mark-sheets/certificates of Class 10th. 2. It is contended in the writ petition that the correct name of the father of the petitioner is Ranjeet Singh, which is mentioned as Datar Singh Barwa in the mark-sheets/certificates of Class 10th [2025:RJ-JP:21194] (2 of 3) [CW-16894/2016] of the petitioner. An application was submitted for correction of name before the Board of Secondary Education (for short “Board”), but the Board vide order dated 05.09.2016 rejected the said prayer of the petitioner. 3. It is apprised at Bar by the counsel for the respondent-State that at the time of submission of application form, the name of father of the petitioner was mentioned as Datar Singh Barwa as well as Ranjit Singh, hence in the school record, the name of father of the petitioner was recorded as Datar Singh Barwa in place of Ranjit Singh and, accordingly, the mark-sheet of Class 10th of the petitioner was issued by the Board. 4. The reply submitted by the Secretary, Board indicates that in absence of the affidavit of the petitioner and in absence of the school record duly certified by the gazetted officer of the school, such correction cannot be carried out. 5. Considering the above factual aspect of the matter, this Court deems it just and proper to dispose of the writ petition granting liberty to the petitioner to file fresh application through the process under the law before the concerned school as well as before the Board. 6. Accordingly, the writ petition stands disposed of. All applications (pending, if any) also stand disposed of. 7. In case, such application is submitted by the petitioner within a period of one month from today after completing the desired formalities as required, it is expected from the respondents to decide the said application of the petitioner strictly in accordance with law expeditiously as early as possible preferably within a period of three months thereafter. [2025:RJ-JP:21194] (3 of 3) [CW-16894/2016] 8. Since the petitioner has remained unrepresented before this Court, she is not aware about passing of this order. Office is directed to send a copy of this order to the petitioner for her intimation/information of this order. (ANOOP KUMAR DHAND),J Karan/121
