EDU.,SC, FINANCE BEFORE HONOURABLE MR. JUSTICE NELSON SAILO ORDER Date : 15.12.2025 Heard Mr. H. Talukdar, learned counsel for the petitioner, who submits that the late husband of the petitioner retired as Vice Principal of Mayang Higher Secondary School on 31.12.1991. On his retirement, his pension was finalized by issuing PPO. However, he expired on 11.07.2011 and thereafter, the petitioner being the wife, approached the respondent authorities for granting her family pension but the same was denied to her and for which reason she has filed the instant writ petition. [2.] Mr. G. Pegu, learned Govt. Advocate submits that there were certain discrepancies in the name of the petitioner in various documents and for which reason, the State Bank of India, the Bank through which pension is released to pensioners, declined to process the pension. He further submits that during the pendency of this writ petition, on 10.12.2025, the Director of Pension has issued Page No.# 3/3 a Corrigendum rectifying the name of the nominee of late Government servant in the name of the present petitioner. Such being the position, the authorities are taking all the necessary steps for granting family pension to the petitioner and therefore, the writ petition can be closed. [3.] Mr. B. K. Sen, learned Standing Counsel, State Bank of India for the respondent Nos. 1 and 2 submits that if such Corrigendum is issued and furnished to the Bank, the Bank will do the needful that is required to be done on its part. [4.] Mr. A. Chaliha, learned Standing Counsel, Finance Department appears for the respondent No.3 i.e., Treasury Officer, Morigaon and submits that once the relevant documents reaches the Treasury Officer, he will do the needful. [5.] Considering the above submission, which Mr. H. Talukdar, learned counsel for the petitioner also agrees to, it appears that the respondent authorities have taken necessary steps for curing the defects and accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the respondents to complete the process as may be required in law as expeditiously as possible and the petitioner given her entitlement.
