GP FOR HOME The Court made the following: 3 ORDER: This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India with the following prayer: “….to issue a writ order or direction more particularly one in the nature of writ of mandamus, declaring the inaction of the respondents in granting permision to conduct buffallo, sheep and pigs competition organized by the petitioner and other royths in the agricultural fields during Sankranthi festival days i.e., from 13-01-2025 to 15-01-2025 at Chillangi Village, Kirlampudi Mandl, Kakinada District as illegal, arbitrary and unjust and consequently direct the respondents and their subordinates not to interfere with the conducting of buffallo, sheep and pigs competition event organized by the petitioner and other ryots and pass….” 2. Heard Sri N.Siva Reddy, learned counsel for the petitioner and Sri V.Farook, learned Assistant Government Pleader for Home. 3. Learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the respondent authorities have not granted permission to conduct animal fight in the agricultural fields during Sankranthi festival. Learned counsel would further submit this Court may direct the respondents not to interfere with the conducting of buffalo, sheep and pigs competition in the event of Sankranthi Festival. 4. Learned Assistant Government Pleader on written instructions would submit that the police are going to follow the directions of Hon’ble Division Bench of this Court in W.P(PIL)Nos.320 of 2014 and 177 of 2016. 5. It is beneficial to extract relevant portions of written instructions dated 10.01.2024: “….The 6th respondent/Station House Officer, Kirlampudi are going to implement the orders of the District Collector, Kakinada duly implementing the ordersof the Hon’ble High Court of A.P. om W.P.(PIL)No.177 of 2016 dated 06.09.2019 laid down certain guidelines to prevent social evils i.e, Conduct buffalo, sheep and pigs competition, cock fights during Sankranthi Festival Season….” 4 6. Considering the submissions made, this Writ Petition is disposed of directing the police to follow the directions of Hon’ble Division Bench of this Court in W.P(PIL)Nos.320 of 2014 and 177 of 2016. There shall be no order as to costs.
