ORAL ORDER
Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that as per the discussion had with the respondents, the petitioner will anyway be entitled for a short term passport and therefore the learned counsel submits that the writ petition may be disposed of, while issuing such a direction to the respondents.
2. Learned Deputy Solicitor General of India however submits that the application was filed by the petitioner in the year 2023. Therefore, the petitioner may be directed to file a fresh application and the respondent will consider the same for issuance of short term validity passport for a period of one year.

3. Accordingly the writ petition stands disposed of permitting the petitioner to file a fresh application seeking re-issuance of passport. If such application is filed, the respondent shall consider the same for grant of short term validity passport. The application that would be filed by the petitioner shall be considered and disposed of as expeditiously as possible and at any rate within a period of two weeks from the date when the application is received at the hands of the respondents.
