Also heard Ms. A Verma, learned Standing Counsel, Home Department, Assam & NRC; Shri P Sarma, learned State Counsel, Assam; Shri KK Parasar, learned CGC and Ms. S Katakey, learned Standing Counsel, ECI. On the last occasion i.e. 19.11.2025, considering the facts and circumstances, this Court had granted time to the learned counsel for the petitioner to obtain instructions as to whether options under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has been explored. Ms. Kanungoe, learned counsel has, however, submitted that though she has been informed that the petitioner has passed away in the meantime, she is not
Page No.# 3/3 possessed with any Death Certificate. Be that as it may, considering the submission of the learned counsel for the petitioner, we are of the opinion that there is no requirement to continue with this writ petition any further and the same is accordingly closed.
