JUSTICE SANJAY KUMAR MEDHI ORDER 16.12.2025 Heard Shri N Gautam, learned counsel for the petitioners. Also heard Shri J Chutia, learned Standing Counsel, KAAC as well as Shri N Das, learned State Counsel, Assam. 2. The instant writ petition has been instituted by 7 nos. of petitioners on the aspect of compensation for eviction from their respective plots of land. It is averred that the petitioners are indigenous people belonging to the ST community in the district of Karbi Anglong and are in possession of certain lands. However, they were evicted from those plots of land with the assurance that due compensation would be granted. 3. Both Shri Gautam, learned counsel for the petitioners and Shri Chutia, learned Standing Counsel have submitted that during the pendency of the writ petition, the petitioners have been granted adequate compensation which was accepted except, the petitioner nos. 3 and 4 and accordingly, time was granted to take further instructions regarding the existing grievance of the petitioner nos. 3 and 4. 4. Shri Chutia, learned Standing Counsel has submitted that though an amount of Page No.# 4/4 compensation was offered to the petitioner nos. 3 and 4, since there was some grievance on the sufficiency, a revised proposal has been worked out which is being accepted by the petitioner nos. 3 and 4. The revised proposal, sought to be accepted by the petitioner nos. 3 and 4 is to be finalized and paid expeditiously and preferably within a period of 3 months from today. 5. In view of the aforesaid development, this Court is of the opinion that there would not be any live cause of action which would require further adjudication. 6.
