This Court, vide order dated 22.04.2024, passed in MCRC No. 1768 of 2024, while allowing the bail to the petitioner, namely, Sushil Kumar Chikwa, had expressed its trust that the trial Court should make an earnest endeavor to conclude the trial expeditiously in accordance with law, preferably within a period of 06 months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of the order, if there was no legal impediment. 3. Earlier on two occasions also, this Court had granted extension of time for VAIBHAV SINGH Digitally signed by VAIBHAV SINGH Date: 2025.06.17 19:45:36 +0530
2 compliance of the order dated 22.04.2024. 4. The learned Special Judge (NDPS Act), Bilaspur (C.G.) vide his request letter dated 08.05.2025 has requested for grant some more month time for concluding the trial. 5. It transpires from perusal of the PUD, that in the present case, this case was received on transfer to this court on 02.08.2024 as per the order of Hon'ble Sessions Judge, Bilaspur and has been presented before me for hearing for the first time on the said date. On perusal of the case, as per the order dated 22/11/2024 passed by the Hon'ble High Court in CRMP No.-3149/2024 (Sushil Kumar Chikwa vs. State of Chhattisgarh), the case is to be disposed of within five months from the date of order. Statements of only 10 witnesses have been recorded in the case, and statements of 03 witnesses are pending. Considering the number of witnesses, it is likely that the final resolution of the said case will take time and additional time is required. Due to this reason, it is not possible to conclude the trial within the time prescribed by this Court. Hence, he prays for grant of some more. time for concluding the trial. 6. The request appears to be reasonable.
The concerned trial Court is directed to conclude the trial as early as possible, preferably within a further period of three months from today. 7. Accordingly, this CRMP stands disposed off with the aforesaid direction. 8. Registry is directed to send a certified copy of this order to the trial Court concerned for necessary information and compliance. dSd/-
