The petitioner has impugned the appointment of respondent No. 6 as temporary Lambardar of Village Mulass Kalwa, Tehsil Mahore District Reasi, on the ground that the same is in violation of J&K Lambardari Act, 1972 and the Rules made thereunder. It is submitted by Mr. Irfaan Khan, learned counsel for the petitioner that the present petition may be disposed of by directing the official respondents to conduct elections of Lambardar in the aforesaid village at an earliest as possible. 2. After examining the record, this Court finds that pursuant to the advertisement, only two applicants responded to the post of Lambardar for the aforesaid village, which included respondent No. 6 as well. 3. Be that as it may, as the respondent No. 6 has been appointed as Lambardar for a fixed period, accordingly, the present petition is disposed of by directing the official respondents to hold elections for the post of 2 WP(C) No. 505/2023 Lambardar of Village Mulass Kalwa, Tehsil Mahore, District Reasi within a period of three months from the date of receipt of copy of this order. 4. Interim direction, if any, shall stand vacated. 5. Record produced by the official respondents is returned in the open court.
