A.G, Manipur assisted by Ms.Sarmila, learned Jr.Govt counsel and Mr.B.R.Sharma, learned counsel for the NMC. On 10.11.2025, this Court issued notice to NMC for clarification of creation of one supernumerary seat in PG course of MS General Surgery in JNIMS for the Academic year, 2025-26. Today, Mr.H.Debendra, learned Add. A.G, Manipur produced a letter dated 4.12.2025 issued by the Joint Secretary (Health & FW), Government of Manipur addressed to the Deputy Advocate General, Manipur informing that one supernumerary seat has been created for Mr.Mekhulshim Tontanga Maring, who is the writ petitioner in WP(C) No.740 of 2023 vide corrigendum dated 3.12.2025 by the NMC. Accordingly, Director JNIMS issued order dated 9.10.2025 and corrigendum dated 4.12.2025 with respect to creation of one supernumerary seat for MS-General Surgery at JNIMS for the petitioner. It is submitted that direction of this Court regarding creation of one supernumerary post has also been complied and contempt may be closed. Recording the submission made at the Bar and subsequent development, the contempt case is closed. Present Ms.Ranjita, learned counsel for the petitioner in WP(C) No.736 of 2023, Mr.H.Iswarlal, learned senior counsel assisted by Ms.Erica, learned counsel for private respondent in WP(C) No.740 of 2023, Mr.Nongdamba, learned counsel assisting the learned DSGI on behalf of Central Government. Mr.Serto T.Kom, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in view of creation of one supernumerary seat in MS General Surgery in JNIMS for the Academic year, 2025-26 for the petitioner in WP(C) No.740 of 2023, the writ petition has become infructuous and matter may be closed. Recording the submission, the writ petition is closed as infructuous. Misc case also closed.
