JUSTICE KAUSHIK GOSWAMI 03.02.2025 Heard Ms. Rinduhawmi, learned counsel for the petitioners. Also heard Ms. Baby Laldinzuali, learned counsel appearing on behalf of Ms. Zairemsangpuii, learned CGC for the respondent Nos. 1 & 5. This petition is filed under Rule 9 of the Contempt of Court (Gauhati High Court) Rules, 1997 read with Sections 11 & 12 of the Contempt of Court Act, 1971 and Article 215 of the Constitution of India for non-implementation of this Hon’ble Court’s Judgment & Order dated 10.02.2023 passed by this Court in WP(C) No. 16/2013. By the said order, the learned Single Judge while dismissing the writ petition, in view of the fact that payment of the rent had been pending for a long time, directed the respondents to release the remaining amount at the earliest but not later than three months. Due to non-releasing of the rent within the said stipulated time, the present contempt petition has been filed. Today, when the matter has been called, Ms. Rinduhawmi, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the remaining rent amounting to Rs. 20,70,732/- (Rupees Twenty Lakhs Seventy Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty Two) as directed by this Court, has already been disbursed to the petitioners. In view of the aforesaid endorsement made by the learned counsel, Page No.# 3/3 nothing survives for adjudication in the instant contempt petition and accordingly, the instant contempt petition stands closed.
