p. 1 IN THE HIGH COURT OF ORISSA AT CUTTACK W.P.(C) No.36496 of 2025 Suchitra Pradhan …. Petitioner Mr.Manoj Kumar Panda, Advocate -versus- State of Odisha & another …. Opp. Parties Mr.J.K. Bal, Addl. Govt. Advocate CORAM: JUSTICE SIBO SANKAR MISHRA Order No. ORDER 16.04.2026 01. 1. Heard. 2. The petitioner is seeking de-freezing his Bank Account No.921010040433041 maintained with the Opposite Party No.2. It is contended by learned counsel for the petitioner that the concerned opposite party no.2-Bank although has frozen the bank account of the petitioner, but has not disclosed under whose instruction and for what reason, the account of the petitioner has been frozen. 3. The contents of the writ petition reveals that there is a Ciber Crime P.S. Case No. EZ CSR No.228/224 pending investigation. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is not an accused in the said case. Hence, she has invoked the writ jurisdiction seeking direction for de-freezing of her bank account. p. 2 Subhasis 4. The present writ petition cannot be entertained for the simple reason that the bank account has been frozen pursuant to the investigation carried out by the police after the registration of a cyber crime case. Hence, the relief sought in this writ petition could only be granted by the appropriate Court under the procedure of BNSS. Liberty is granted to the petitioner to avail such other remedy as available under law. 5. At the same time, the petitioner is entitled to the information relating to the account maintained by the bank and the opposite party no.2-bank is duty bound to disclose regarding the detail of the cases pending for which the account has been frozen. Accordingly, the opposite party No.2-Bank is directed to give the details of the case in which the account is involved and under whose instruction, the account has been frozen. 6. With the aforesaid observation, the writ petition is disposed of. 7. The petitioner is at liberty to resort to the remedy available to her under law for the purpose of de- freezing of her account.
