This habeas corpus petition has been filed seeking to direct the first and second respondents to produce the petitioner's wife viz. According to the petitioner, his wife viz. Chinna Ponnu, aged about 37 years, went missing from 25.07.2025 and that she is in the illegal custody of the third respondent herein; though he has given a complaint on 22.08.2025, the police are not taking effective steps to secure her. 3. On instructions, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor would submit that on a complaint filed by the petitioner a case in Crime No.476 of 2025 has been registered for “woman missing” and during the course of investigation, it came to light that the petitioner's wife has eloped with one Manikandan, third respondent herein and investigation is in progress. 4. In such view of the matter, the police shall continue with the investigation and secure the detenue. On such production, the learned Magistrate shall pass appropriate orders with regard to custody in accordance with law.
