Ms. Afreen Begum. …For the Petitioner. Mr. Dilip Kumar Chatterjee. … For the Union of India. 1. A communication from the Senior Post Master dated 1st January, 2025 addressed to the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Midnapore Division has been placed before this Court. 2. It appears therefrom that there are more than 1000 bags of old SBCO records and out of these only 30 bags have been searched. Vouchers of various dates and years in respect of different schemes have been mingled in the bags haphazardly. 3. Because of the improper storage conditions along with the unorganized manner in which the documents have been stored, there is great difficulty in the search operation. The process is hindered due to non-availability of the outsiders /DRM and the search is exposing the staff to dust and they are facing allergic illness. The search operation is being made intermittently without hampering the daily works. 4. According to the Senior Post Master, the search will require at least an year. 2 5. Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the aforesaid information is required for the purpose of proceeding with the complaint that he has filed against the private respondent. 6. The concerned authority is directed to pursue the search and try to forward the required information to the petitioner at the earliest. 7. The writ petition stands disposed of. 8. The report filed by the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Midnapore Division be retained with the records. 9.
