Petitioners in these writ petitions are street vendors engaged in their work at Night Food Courts situated at Central Park backside, Old Jail Road (Service Road), Visakhapatnam. Prayer addressed in their respective 2 W.P.No.27915 of 2025 & batch writ petitions is to restrain official respondents from interfering in their business activities (Night Food Courts) at the abovesaid venue, except in accordance with law. 3. It is a conceded position that petitioners were treated as encroachers on the area in question and that all encroachments at Old Jail Road have since been cleared in accordance with law. Present writ petitions, it is stated, are thus rendered infructuous as such. 4. It is further submitted that Rc.No.50/2026/Revenue/R2, dated 10.06.2026, has been issued by Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) to the Commissioner, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), Visakhapatnam, seeking permission for utilization of vacant land adjoining Central Park, opposite Women’s College, for establishment of a vending zone. Petitioners, as per their eligibility and in accordance with applicable rules and regulations, shall be relocated or rehabilitated at said premises. However, it is pointed out that W.P.No.13090 of 2026 has been filed challenging this action. Status quo was directed therein vide order dated 05.05.2026. 5. Learned counsel for petitioners fairly states that, in view of the decision of respondent Corporation to rehabilitate eligible street vendors, present proceedings may thus be closed. He further submits that petitioners are in process of filing applications for impleadment in W.P.No.13090 of 2026 and necessary steps shall be taken accordingly. 3 W.P.No.27915 of 2025 & batch 6. Keeping in view the facts and circumstances as above, present proceedings are closed. Writ Petitions are accordingly disposed of with liberty to petitioners to pursue the matter re: relocation/rehabilitation. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous applications, if any, shall stand closed.
