The petitioner has filed this petition seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to provide adequate Police protection for the conduct of the temple festivals scheduled between Sri Kurukkarudaiyar Ayyanar Temple and the Pongal festival at Sri Krurkkarudaiyar Ayyanar Temple on 20.09.2025, Mulaikottu Festival at Arulmigu Priyadhi Amman Temple from 21.09.2025 to 01.10.2025 at Nallirukkai Village, Keelakarai Taluk, Ramanathapuram District, on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated
23.08.2025. 2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that certain persons in the village are attempting to prevent the conduct of the festival and that unless the Police protection is accorded, the festival would not be conducted in a peaceful manner. 3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, would submit that there are rival claimants, who are not agreeable for the conduct of the festival; and that there is likely to be a law and order problem, if the festival is conducted. 2/5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner relied upon the decision taken in the Peace committee meeting, where all the villagers had agreed to conduct the said festival jointly. 5. The representation of the petitioner, in fact, is not for Police protection but for permission to screen movies and also to use mics. The respondents shall consider the said request in accordance with law and communicate the result of the same to the petitioner. 6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
