For Petitioner : Mr.H.Mohamed Imran for M/s.Ajmal Associates For Respondent : Mr.C.Deepak Standing Counsel 1/5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.(MD).No.35080 of 2025 O R D E R The present writ petition has been filed seeking a Mandamus directing the respondent Bank to return the pledged jewels in connection with the bank Account No.4264101008345 and IFSC Code CNRB0004264 and also to de- freeze the above said account, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 29.08.2025. 2. The petitioner herein has pledged her jewels and borrowed two jewel loans from the respondent/Bank which are connected to the bank Account No.4264101008345. 3. According to the petitioner, as far as one jewel loan is concerned she had cleared the entire loan along with interest in the year 2023 itself. For the other loan she is ready to pay the entire amount along with interest and redeem the jewels. Due to some complaint lodged by the Cyber Crime Department from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, the savings bank account has been frozen. Just because the savings bank account has been frozen, the petitioner cannot be prevented from redeeming her jewels. 2/5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.(MD).No.35080 of 2025 4. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent submits that the savings bank account of the writ petitioner was frozen pursuant to the proceedings of Chandragiri Police Station, Tirupati District, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Therefore, since two jewel loans are connected with the savings bank account, the petitioner has not been permitted to redeem the jewels. 5. Considering the above said facts, this Court is of the considered opinion that the freezing of the savings bank account at the instance of the police authorities has been made and therefore, this Court is not inclined to pass any orders with regard to the de-freezing of the savings bank account. It is left open to the writ petitioner to work out her remedy independently in the manner known to law. 6. As far as the two jewel loans are concerned, the petitioner shall pay the due amount, if not already paid and redeem the jewels. With the above said observations, this Writ Petition stands partly allowed. There shall be no order as to costs.
