ORAL ORDER
1. The petitioners (accused Nos.1 to 5) are before this Court challenging the registration of an FIR for offences punishable under Sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the Information Technology Act, 2000, and Sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code.
2. Respondent No.2 lodged the FIR alleging that the petitioners committed data theft and misused the data by unlawfully divulging confidential information.
3. Petitioner No.1 is present through video conferencing, and the representative of the informant company is present before this Court. They submit that the dispute has been amicably resolved between the parties. As per the terms of the settlement, the petitioners (accused Nos.1 to 5) have paid a certain sum of money to the informant towards the alleged loss. Respondent No.2 has agreed to withdraw all allegations and has no objection to the quashing of the FIR, in order to maintain cordial relations and prevent further hostility between the parties. In light of the settlement, the likelihood of the

police filing a charge sheet is remote and bleak.
4. In view of the above, continuation of the criminal investigation against the petitioners would amount to an abuse of the process of law.
5. Accordingly, the petition is allowed. The impugned FIR in Crime No.903/2022 registered by the Whitefield CEN Crime Police Station, Bengaluru, is hereby quashed.
