ORDER This Suo Motu Case is dealt with in an extraordinary manner by the Dedicated Bench, pursuant to Suo Motu W.P.(Crl.) No.618 of 2025. 2.The case, Cr.No.262 of 2017 was registered for the alleged offence under Section 379 I.P.C. and Section 21 (1) of the Mines and Minerals (Development & Regulation) Act, 1957. The occurrence is of the year 2017. The allegation in this case is that the accused has stolen 1/2 units of river sand. It is reported that the accused has been attending the Court regularly. There is no previous or subsequent previous case against the accused. 3.Considering the nature of the allegation, the antecedents of the accused and since the accused has been facing the case since 2017, any further continuation of the trial would impinge upon his right to a speedy trial of the accused and no useful purpose would be served.
