S CHAMARIA, MR. M ALI Advocate for the Respondent : SC, GMC, BEFORE HONOURABLE MR. JUSTICE ARUN DEV CHOUDHURY ORDER 26.03.2025 Heard Mr. M. Ali, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. P. Nayak, learned Standing Counsel, GMC representing the respondents. A portion of Lal Singh Mansion Building situated at A. T. Road, Guwahati was demolished in terms of an order dated 14.10.2020 issued by the respondent GMC. It is the grievance of the petitioner that though such demolition was executed through a contractor and demolition has already been carried out, the said contractor is attempting to dismantle the frontage portion of the said premises which is nothing to do with the said demolition drive. Accordingly, the petitioner has preferred a representation before the Commissioner, GMC on 08.12.2021. The aforesaid order dated 14.10.2020 was passed pursuant to this Court’s order dated 21.09.2020 passed in WP(C) No. 3563/2020. The aforesaid order reflects that the building was in a dilapidated condition located on one of the busiest business centre of the Guwahati city at A.T. Road from the edge of the footpath. As the expertise was required for demolition of such building, contractor Page No.# 3/3 was involved in this case with the help of Public Works Department taking note of safety of the general public. Mr. Nayak, learned Standing Counsel for the GMC, on instruction submits that the demolition work has already been carried out and there is no question of any contractor now demolishing the gate beyond the scope of the order dated 14.10.2020 on behalf of the GMC. In view of the aforesaid, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that if that be the position, he has no grievance remains. Accordingly, this writ petition stands closed. JUDGE Comparing Assistant
