Heard learned counsel for petitioner and learned state counsel for the opposite parties. 2. Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the concerned authority to consider the petitioner's application for compassionate appointment under the U.P. Recruitment for Dependents of Government Servants Dying in Harness Rules, 1974. 3. It is submitted that the petitioner's father, late Santosh Kumar, passed away in harness in the Department of Home Guards on 19th February 2015 when the petitioner was a minor and upon attaining majority in 2023, filed an application dated 27th July 2023 for compassionate appointment which is still pending consideration. At present learned counsel for petitioner restricts his prayer for a final decision with regard to same. 4. In view thereof, opposite party No. 2 i.e. Commandant General, Home Guards, Headquarters, U.P., Lucknow or any other competent authority is directed to take a decision in accordance with law in light of the provisions of the Rules of 1974 on the aforesaid application dated 27th July 2023, expeditiously, within a period of six weeks from the date a certified copy of this order is produced before the said authority. Petitioner shall annex a copy of the application dated 27th July 2023 along with a certified copy of this order. 5. The petition stands disposed of.
