1. The petitioners have been chargesheeted for offences punishable under Sections 498A, 504, and 506 of the IPC, and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
2. The prosecution alleges that accused No. 1 is the husband of the defacto complainant, and accused Nos. 2 and 3 are her parents-in-law. It is further alleged that they subjected the defacto complainant to cruelty, both mentally and physically, and demanded that she bring money from her parental home. The parties are present

before this Court and have filed a joint affidavit stating that accused No. 1 and the defacto complainant have amicably resolved their dispute in M.C. No. 6447/2024. Under the terms of the settlement, the marriage has been dissolved, and the defacto complainant has agreed to withdraw all allegations against the petitioners and raised no objection to quashing the impugned proceedings.
3. The joint affidavit is hereby placed on record.
4. Although the offences alleged are cognizable and non-compoundable, having regard to the fact that the parties have amicably resolved their dispute, subjecting the petitioners to trial would be futile, as the probability of their conviction is remote and bleak in view of the settlement. Therefore, the continuation of criminal proceedings would constitute an abuse of law. Accordingly, I pass the following:
ORDER i. The criminal petition is allowed.

ii. The impugned proceedings in C.C.No.22014/2023 pending on the file of 29th Additional ACJM, Bangalore is hereby quashed.
