The petitioner as well as respondents 4 to 6 are claiming the subject property. Admittedly, patta was issued in respect of the subject property in favour of respondents 4 to 6 in the year 2010. The petitioner did not any step to challenge the patta in the manner known to law within the limitation period. After a period of 10 years, the petitioner submitted representation for cancellation of patta before the second respondent. Further, after a period of five years from the date of the said 2/4 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.No.39343 of 2025 representation, this writ petition has been filed. Therefore, on the ground of laches, the petitioner cannot challenge the patta issued in favour of respondents 4 to 6 in the year 2010. However, the petitioner is at liberty to approach the civil court for appropriate relief in respect of the subject property. 3. With the above liberty, this writ petition is disposed of.
