It is the case of the petitioner that he is having a threat of his life from his wife and such threat of life compelled him to take shelter in a homestay leaving his residence. 3. In the aforesaid backdrop, the petitioner has preferred an application before the Director General of Police (DGP) seeking personal Security Officer (PSO) so as to protect himself from the threat of life i.e., coming from his wife. It is submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner is even willing to pay the cost/remuneration/salary of such PSO. 4. Mr. H Sarma, learned counsel for the respondent submits that the state has already laid down a procedure for providing PSO’s inasmuch as until and unless an assessment is made by the concerned Superintendent of Police, no PSO can be provided to any citizen. At this stage, the learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he shall approach the jurisdictional Superintendent of Police, Special Branch seeking PSO in view of his perceived threat of life from his wife. However, he submits that that a time frame may be given to complete the procedure. 6. In view of the aforesaid, the petitioner is permitted to approach the competent authority (Superintendent of Police, Special Branch) within ten days from today. In the event such application is filed before the concerned Superintendent of Police, Special Branch, the threat perception of the petitioner may be assessed and thereafter necessary procedure may be followed to consider the case of the petitioner for grant of PSO. 7. The entire exercise be carried out within a period of 30 days from the date of receipt of the application to be filed by the petitioner. 8. While parting with the records, it is clarified that this order may not be treated as an opinion on the actual threat perception of the petitioner and same may be assessed by the competent authority. 9.
