Heard learned counsel for the petitioner, Shri S.B. We repeatedly asked learned counsel for the petitioner as to how this Public Interest Litigation is maintainable for the reliefs claimed as respondent no.6 claims to be a private society and also as no resolution of the governing body of the petitioner/ society has been annexed authorizing filing of this petition by Mr. Anuj Tiwari, Secretary of the Society, no satisfactory response could be provided. Ofcourse it is alleged that the respondent no.6 will be using Indian flag while organizing sports event in Istanbul. When we asked learned counsel for petitioner to demonstrate this aspect, he could not do so. 3. We are not satisfied with the credentials of the petitioner nor that Versus Counsel for Petitioner(s) : Himanshu Shekhar, Dileep Kumar Pathak, Kirti Vardhan Shukla Counsel for Respondent(s) : A.S.G.I., C.S.C. U.P. Powerlifting Association Thru. Secretary Mr.Anuj Tiwari .....Petitioner(s) Union Of India Thru. If there is any tangible grievance, the petitioner may approach the respondent no.1 in this regard. Infact we have noticed an order dated 15.07.2025 passed by the respondent no.1, relevant paragraph of which reads as under:- "In light of the position explained above, the request of Powerlifting India for Government recognition cannot be acceded to. However, since Powerlifting India is recognised by the International Powerlifting Federation and it is an registered society under Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 it may continue the activities for promotion of sports of powerlifting and may apply afresh for Government recognition after fulfilling all the requirement prescribed under guidelines of recognition of NSFs as contained in Sports Code and other instructions issued from time to time by this Ministry." 4. We, accordingly, dispose of this Public Interest Litigation with liberty to the petitioner to approach respondent no.1 for redressal of his grievance or to avail such other remedies as may be permissible under law, if there is a cause.
